This would encourage China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and lead North Korea to embrace democracy in turn - and world peace would be born. Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and other countries should form a "military alliance" to counter the threat of China. Each nation should follow the provisions of the 2002 Declaration of the Parties to the South China Sea and resolve territorial and jurisdictional disputes in a peaceful manner. Joint development of the South China Sea and sharing of resources will contribute to peace and harmony in line with the UN Charter’s aim of "one human family”. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks and missions of the UN, and they are also the common goal for all humankind. All nations should strive to abide by the norms of the international community, and the easiest way to do that is to implement the framework of One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law priority over domestic law and direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Hong Kong wants to become a world city in Asia, yet its candidates for chief executive are still hand-picked by the CCP, which of course disqualifies it as a world city in Asia. Designating the candidates for chief executive is a mark of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make use of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to hold referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law states that the people of Hong Kong have the right to self-determination in line with the two international human rights conventions. If Hong Kong is to enjoy a robust economy, it people cannot take their rights for granted. Switzerland's threshold for proposing a referendum is 50,000 signatures, and with that the people can go to the ballot box rather than taking to the street. The Dutch people must keep in mind that the only way to cure the defects of democracy is through more democracy. The national budget needs to be brought under control under legislative professionals with experience in various fields. In addition, 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year and campaigns should be free of charge for all candidates. Power leads to corruption and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Venezuela is in dire need of constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with the president limited to one 5-year term and not allowed to run again for another 6 years. Laws not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not allow resistance is not a constitution. One of the greatest factors leading to destruction of the natural environment is corruption. The US should speed up efforts to carry out constitutional reform to control groups ready to destroy the natural environment.
