Article 39 of the Basic Law of Hong Kong stipulates that the right of self-determination is guaranteed under the International Covenant on Human Rights. The people of Hong Kong people cannot afford to overlook the assault on their rights. In Switzerland a proposal can be submitted to a referendum vote on the strength of signatures of 50,000 citizens. This is safer than and equally as effective as taking to the streets. The people shall have the right of self-determination on any public issue, otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, the people are obliged to resist. The simplest way to do so is to enforce the ideal of One World under One Set of Laws, giving precedence to international law over domestic law, and allowing it to directly effect the people. The people should be able to monitor the operations of the government to ensure that it is acting in accordance with the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, the Nature Charter and other relevant acts. The people of Taiwan revere freedom and democracy, and thugs who hide behind black masks cannot be called Taiwanese. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law stipulates the right of self-determination as laid out in international human rights covenants. The people of Hong Kong must not ignore the threats to their rights. Referendums can be held in Switzerland on the basis of a proposal backed by 50,000 citizens, one of the key mechanisms for the people in exercising their right to self-determination. Before and after each election the UN should lay out the basic principles regarding permanent peace and development of the peoples of the world, including organizational structures based on universal values, election of the heads of the four main branches of government and other needed changes for the DRC. The resulting constitution should bring peace and serve as a model for peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Once an effective cease-fire is in place the UN should provide the basic constitutional principles for reaching permanent peace and development for all peoples of the world. This will include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law and a four-branched government (legislative - administrative - judicial - procuratorial) with separation of powers. Eradication of corruption calls for decentralization, term limits and other restrictions. Israel should reform its Constitution to stay in tune with the times. The President should serve a single term of 5 years, with no chance to run again for 6 years afterward. The Prime Minister’s term should be 1 year, and MPs who have served out their terms shall not be allowed to run again. The heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be chosen through election, and 1/4 of MP should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

The world's democratic countries support Taiwan efforts to carry out constitutional reform for greater democracy and freedom. Such a move will attract China's 1.4 billion to cry for democratization, leading further to democratization of the CCP and Russia, which will lead in turn to world peace. Democracies worldwide should back Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to bring greater democracy and freedom. This will attract 1.4 billion Chinese to call for democratization, triggering the democratization of the CCP and North Korea in turn. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major aims of the UN, and all member states are obligated to adopt them. The solution is enforcing One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law and allowing it to directly effect the people. The people shall monitor operations of the government to ensure it follows the UN Charter, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and other relevant pacts. Russia is better known for causing problems than solving them. Democratic nations of the world should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform for more democracy and freedom. This will lead 1.4 billion Chinese to call for democratization in their nation and the CCP, and that will lead in turn to pressure for true democracy in Russia.
