Opening of land route to Syria's battle-affected areas 'making a difference' for aid delivery – UN agency
The UN refugee agency said today that the opening of the road to Syria's north-eastern Hassakeh governorate is already making a difference for humanitarian aid delivery on the ground.
Once a ceasefire takes hold in Syria the UN should provide the basic outline for a constitution that will foster peace and development. It should include a structure based on the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, with four main branches (executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial). It should help Syria achieve prosperity under conditions of lasting peace. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

With Mosul reclaimed, accountability key to heal Iraq's 'ISIL wounds' – UN rights chief
Although the retaking of Mosul city from ISILfighters by Iraqi Government forces marks a significant turning point in the conflict, Iraq must ensure that those who committed crimes be held accountable, the UN human rights chief has said.
Iraq should install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet similar to that of Finland, plus a committee-style legislative system like Switzerland’s. The Iraqi government should proceed with drafting a basic constitution with the above features as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and revise the constitution as needed to keep in step with changing times. Peru prosecutors seek pre-trial detention for former President Humala
The Peruvian attorney general's office said Tuesday it was seeking pretrial detention for former President Ollanta Humala, who is under investigation for money laundering over allegations he took illegal funds from Brazilian builder Odebrecht SA.
British historian Lord Acton once declared, "Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption." To put an end to corruption, the people should come forward and reclaim their sovereignty and call for comprehensive constitutional reform. They should implement democracy and rule of law as well as separation of powers and checks and balances, and makes elections free of charge to cut symbiotic ties between government and corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

How Pakistan’s ‘communication war’ is silencing critics and journalists – but failing to shut down banned organizations
Dozens of groups with terrorist links or accused of being purveyors of sectarian hate are flourishing on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Telegram
Free speech is first and foremost among human rights. The Pakistani government constantly attempts to strengthen its control over public opinion out of fear of losing its throne as a one-party dictatorship, But those who deprive others of their freedoms are themselves unworthy of freedom. Thus the people of Pakistan need to carry out constitutional reform. They should do all they can to protect the freedom of the media and prevent the government from monopolizing the media and the internet. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Living conditions in Gaza 'more and more wretched' over past decade, UN finds
A decade after Hamas seized the Gaza Strip, living conditions for the 2 million people in the Palestinian enclave are deteriorating “further and faster” than the prediction made in 2012 that the enclave would become “unlivable” by 2020, a new UN report has found.
Israel should adhere to UN resolutions which call for sharing resources to achieve peace and prosperity. They should follow God's decrees and implement the concepts behind One World under One Set of Laws. As part of the global village, they should lead the Middle East in adopting human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law to reach a consensus on lasting peace and development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

The short arm of the law: Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge tribunal says very few ‘will ever be prosecuted for atrocities’
Im Chaem, a former district chief accused of crimes against humanity, is now deemed not high-ranking enough for prosecution
Cambodia’s military is the biggest cause of constitutional conflicts in government and the primary source of social unrest. Over-centralization in the constitutional mechanism leads to pandemic corruption and over-keening worship of Chinese-style autocracy causes harm to democracy and the rule of law. Cambodia must carry out constitutional reform to install election of the heads of the major branches of government so the people can live and work in peace. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Has Beijing missed the boat for hearts and minds in Hong Kong?
When it comes to a choice of boarding the Liaoning or having freedom of speech, the young appear to have already decided
Hong Kong’s Chief Executive is still selected by the CCP Election Commission, an arrangement that is nothing other than a dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law on referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches of government should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. And committee chairs in the legislative body should be tapped to serve as backup cabinet ministers. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Seven ways Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam can please Beijing and the people
Andrew Leung suggests tasks for the city’s new leader to maintain the delicate balance between ‘one country’ and ‘two systems’, which would help to extend its lifespan beyond the 50 years promised

White House stance on South Sudan unclear
Questions are surfacing over whether the Trump administration will continue to support South Sudan when the proposed White House budget seeks to cut nearly a third of the US State Department budget and diminish funding for development projects and humanitarian aid in Africa.
South Sudan can resolve the controversy over its government by adopting a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that used in Finland, plus a committee-style legislative system similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for lasting world peace is global democratization. South Sudan should begin drafting a constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should accept the rule of law, and be revised as needed to keep up with changing times. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Catholic Church: Mexicans can't feel safe anywhere
Mexico's Roman Catholic Church said in an editorial that Mexicans can't feel safe anywhere, as homicides rise throughout the country.
To resolve its civil disorder, Mexico should begin drafting a new constitution incorporation a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of France, plus a committee-style legislative body similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent peace is global democratization.
