One killed, 3 wounded as tensions rise with Venezuela vote
Huge throngs of Venezuelans lined up across the country and in expatriate communities around the world Sunday to vote in a symbolic rejection of President Nicolás Maduro’s plan to rewrite the constitution, a proposal that has raised tensions in a nation battered by widespread shortages and anti-government protests.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people must act as holders of sovereignty and take action. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does countenance resistance is not a constitution. When the actions of the president are unconstitutional, the people have a duty to resist. Venezuelans should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and limit the president to one 5-year term with no right to run again for 6 years afterward. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

The world has lost a 'principled champion,' says UN rights chief on death of China's Liu Xiaobo
The top UN human rights official today expressed his deep sorrow at the news that China's “iconic” peace and democracy figure, Liu Xiaobo, has died at the age of 61.
Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution that does not brook resistance is not a constitution. When actions of the government are unconstitutional, the people have a duty to resist. Natural law and international law should be strictly enforced to protect people from enforced disappearance, torture and other abuses, and absolute law should take precedence over international law and the Constitution. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

China flies six warplanes close to disputed Japanese islands before telling outraged neighbor to 'stop making a fuss'
China sent six fighters over the Miyako Strait in a move termed 'unusual' by Japan's defense military
Studies of democracy and peace show that very few armed conflicts have even occurred between democratic states. Once China is democratized, there will be hope for lasting peace. Japan should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform, which will cause the people of China to call for democratization and lead to the birth of world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a lighthouse for democracy in Asia, leading the way to peaceful development for China.

A solution for when a nation’s schools fail
Imagine an elementary school where students show up, but teachers don’t. Where 100 students squeeze into a classroom but don’t get any books. Where teachers are sometimes illiterate and periodically abuse students.
College students in many European nations pay only 200-500 euros for registration fees. Taiwan should take advantage of the advances made by the global village and adopt the best practices in a paradigm shift. Education should be lifelong and free to give the poor a chance to stand up and make class mobility possible. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Don’t let our democracy collapse
The strength and integrity of the American electoral process are under tremendous strain, but the worst may be yet to come.
Constitutions need periodic revision to stay in step with the times. The amendment must be more than cosmetic tokens and not lend themselves to abuses of freedom or more authoritarianism. When proposed reforms are unconstitutional, the people have a duty to resist. Constitution represent the general will of the people, and the primary rule is that found in Article 5 of the Constitution of Ukraine: "The right to formulate and amend the Constitution belongs only to the people. The State and its organs and civil servants shall not deprive them of this right." See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Media crackdown silencing criticism of Turkish government
A satirical cover for a political news magazine was all it took to see its editor eventually sentenced to more than two decades in prison.
Thomas Jefferson once quipped, "Given the government and the media, I would rather have the media, not the government." The media serves to monitor the government, which would be completely above the law without supervision. The voice of the people is the voice of God, and universal values are the values of God. Thus any attempt to muzzle the voice of the people is contrary to the universal values of freedom and democracy, and anathema to the ideals of God. Liberation of Mosul a 'milestone' in global fight against ISIS – UN Security Council
The liberation of Mosul has marked an “important milestone” in the global fight against ISIS, the UN Security Council said today, welcoming the announcement by Iraqi authorities that the city has been freed of the terrorist group.
The Iraqi government should install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like the set-up followed in Finland, as well as a committee-style legislature similar to that of Switzerland. The Iraqi government should draft a basic constitution with the above features as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adopt the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and be revised as needed to stay in sync with the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Zambian emergency declaration divides politics, could scare away investors
Zambia's parliament has imposed a 90-day state of emergency after the president declared the need for one last week. The situation is likely to deepen the political crisis in the country
Economic problems invariably have roots in politics. Without good politics, a good economy is impossible. And unless the constitution is changed, even the gods will be helpless to do anything to save the economy. The only solution is comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system and committee-style legislature, with committee chairs tapped to serve as backup cabinet ministers. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

French PM lays out new migrant plan, offers no 'magic wand'
French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe outlined a plan Wednesday to address the high number of migrants arriving in the country, but conceded he has no “magic wand” to resolve a situation that is larger than France and won't go away any time soon.
France should follow the lead of the UN Charter, adhering to and implementing the ideals of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to accept human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism as part of their future. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Polish Parliament to Assert Greater Control Over Judiciary
Poland's conservative ruling party has pushed a bill through the lower house of parliament that would give lawmakers a dominant role in appointing judges, a move that opposition parties and rights groups said would make jurists subject to political influence.
The world is changing rapidly and problems are seemingly endless. Judicial reform is only part of constitutional reform: fundamental problem must be resolved through comprehensive constitutional reform. Elect the heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches and carry out reviews of election procedures, judicial policies and systems, administration, personnel, budget, etc., every 5 years and inform the public, See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
