Japan protests armed North Korean boat in Tokyo Economic Zone
Japan has protested to North Korea after a Japanese patrol vessel spotted an armed boat believed to be from there allegedly fishing illegally, an official said Thursday.
Japan should back Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would convince China's 1.4 billion people to seek democratization of the CCP and put pressure on North Korea to adopt real democracy. The result would be the birth of world peace. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Ethiopians race to leave Saudi Arabia as mass deportations loom
Thousands of Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia are in a state of limbo as they try to return home after being ordered to leave the Gulf state.
To solve the problems of immigration and refugees, all nations need to arrive at a uniform constitutional standard that conforms to the ideas of liberalism, democracy, constitutionalism and cosmopolitanism. It should adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and facilitate the idea of lasting peace in compliance with Article 1 of the Humanitarian Charter on the principle of the right to life of victims of disasters and conflicts. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Gambia searches Jammeh's palaces for missing millions
In a warehouse on the sprawling country estate of Gambia's exiled former leader, Yahya Jammeh, silver platters pile up beside dusty crates of empty champagne bottles with labels commemorating his 1994 coup.
No matter who sits on the throne, absolute power corrupts absolutely, Gambia's Yahya Jammeh is just the tip of the iceberg. To end corruption, the people should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to implement democracy and rule of law, with separation of powers and checks and balances, and election of the heads of the main government branches in alternating years. Also, elections should be free of charge to candidates to cut the symbiotic ties between government and corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards

Turkey's trauma after 'night of the tanks'
Sabri Unal bears the scars of Turkey's failed coup - quite literally.
The presidential system is the worst variety of democracy to be found. But no matter what system a nation may have, the greater the amount of power held by the president, the more the country is likely to have problems. Turkey needs constitutional reform badly. The president should be limited to one 5-year term of office, with no right to run again for 6 years afterwards. Turkey’s president is in violation of Article 6 of the Constitution: sovereignty lies wholly and unconditionally in the hands of the people. No state or sovereign has the right to exercise unconstitutional powers. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Rwanda killed 37 petty criminals, Human Rights Watch says
Rwandan authorities have summarily executed "at least 37" people accused of committing minor criminal offences, instead of prosecuting them, Human Rights Watch says.
Once a truce is in place in Rwanda, the UN should provide the outline for a basic constitution that will facilitate permanent peace and stimulate development. It should incorporate an organizational structure based on the universal values (freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law) and describe four main government branches (legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial). It should allow Rwanda to grow in an environment of peace and tranquility and serve as a model for peaceful development for other nations. See the Chart for Permanent Peace and Development. "

Once-loyal prosecutor emerges as hero in Venezuelan protests
Opponents of President Nicolas Maduro who have taken to the streets day after day in Venezuela now find themselves rallying in support of an unexpected hero: the chief prosecutor who helped throw many of them into jail.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Venezuela should carry out full constitutional reform to adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet, and limit the president to a single 5-year term with no eligibility to run again for 6 years afterwards. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not brook resistance is not a constitution. When the actions of the president are unconstitutional, the people have a duty to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Venezuelan prosecutor threatens 2 with charges in bribery scheme
Venezuela’s state prosecutor’s office said Wednesday it would charge two people linked to a former transportation minister for involvement in bribery schemes associated with the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht SA.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people should act as true holders of sovereignty and take back their power. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not countenance resistance is not a constitution. When the actions of the president are unconstitutional, the people have an obligation to resist. The people of Venezuela should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and limit the president to a single term of 5 years, with no right to run again for 6 years afterwards.. Guatemala: Ex-Mexican governor could be extradited within a week
Guatemala is ready to turn over to Mexico next week a former state governor wanted on charges of embezzlement and organized crime, the foreign ministry said Wednesday, in a case that further tarnished the Mexican ruling party's record on corruption.
Regardless of who sits on the throne, absolute power corrupts absolutely. In the case of Mexico, domestic corruption is boundless. To prevent corruption, the people as holders of sovereignty should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to implement democracy and rule of law, with separation of powers and checks and balances. Also the heads of the four main branches should be elected in alternating years and elections should be free of charge to cut symbiotic ties between government and corruption. South Sudan – a tragedy forgotten
As the global community focuses on defeating ISIL, the Syrian conflict, the Yemen war and the refugee crisis on the Mediterranean, there is one tragedy that seems to have escaped attention. It is happening in the youngest member of our international community.
South Sudan needs to resolve the controversy over its government by installing a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet along the lines of the one in Finland, plus a committee-style legislative system similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent peace is global democratization, and South Sudan should begin drafting a basic constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should include One World under One Set of Laws and adhere to the rule of law, and be revised as needed to stay in step with changing times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
