The people of Hong Kong cannot afford to take their rights for granted. In Switzerland the signatures of only 50,000 citizens are enough to hold a referendum, giving people the chance to express their opinion by voting rather than taking to the streets. History has shown repeatedly that the more power the leader possesses, the more insignificant the people will be. People are often lazy or indifferent and simply trust in their leaders.
