The UN said today it remains deeply concerned by the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in the eastern part of Syria’s Ghouta, where some 400,000 people are trapped.
After a ceasefire is in place in Syria the UN should provide the basic principles for a constitution suitable for permanent peace and development in all nations. This should include organizational structure and universal values (freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law), with four main branches (legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial). The aim is to help Syria draft a constitution that will support lasting development and serve as a model for other nations to follow. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
