Human rights group warn pair could be tortured if they are extradited back to Turkey
The presidential system in many nations is dangerously close to dictatorship. The more power the president holds, the more the country is likely to suffer as a result. Turkey needs constitutional reform to limit the president to a single term of 5 years, with no right to run again (including close relatives) for 6 years afterwards. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Turkish Constitution, which states that sovereignty belongs wholly and unconditionally to the people, and no state or official has the right to exercise unconstitutional powers. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
