US urges punishment of peacekeepers tied to sex abuse as UN ends tainted Haiti mission
On Thursday US Ambassador Nikki Haley urged all countries that provide troops for UN peacekeeping missions to hold soldiers accountable for sexual abuse and exploitation, an appeal that came after she cited an AP investigation into a child sex ring in Haiti involving Sri Lankan peacekeepers.
Haiti needs to improve its controversial government by implementing a modified semi-presidential system with parliament and cabinet similar to that of Finland. Its legislative system should be switched out for a committee-type system like Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for world peace is global democratization: the Haitian government draft a basic constitution incorporating the above changes to effect a paradigm shift resulting in democracy that is in line with One World under One Set of Laws and flexible enough to stay in step with changing times. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Despite ‘armada,’ US looking at more sanctions on North Korea
Despite sending a naval force to the Korean peninsula, the Trump administration is focusing its North Korea strategy on tougher economic sanctions, possibly including an oil embargo, banning its airline, intercepting cargo ships and punishing Chinese banks doing business with Pyongyang, US officials say.
Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reformism to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to do the same, and world peace would be the result. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path for China to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

US must walk dangerous line to manage Syria, North Korea crises
If there was ever any doubt that US President Donald Trump’s strike against Syria was also intended to send a message to Pyongyang, the deployment this weekend of a carrier strike group toward the Korean Peninsula should have cleared it up.
The world’s democracies should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to seek democracy in turn, and world peace would be born. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way for China to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Japan’s fighter jet scrambles set new record in 2016 amid surging Chinese military activity
Japan scrambled fighter jets to intercept foreign aircraft approaching its airspace at a record pace in the fiscal year to March, figures released by the Defense Ministry have shown,as China’s military seeks to break out into the Western Pacific.
One basic fact of democracies is that very few wars have taken place between democratic states. Once China and North Korea can be democratized there will be genuine hope for world peace. The US, Japan and South Korea should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform. This will attract the people of China to seek democratization, and the result would be world peace. Democracies everywhere should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to lasting peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Millions in Yemen on brink of famine, situation ‘close to a breaking point,’ warns UN agency
The UN World Food Program (WFP) is scaling up its emergency operations in war-torn Yemen to provide urgently needed food assistance to some nine million people, the agency said today.
The only cure for the ills of democracy is more democracy. Democracy will shift blame for disasters like famine from the poor to government authorities. Democracy is the natural enemy of autocracy, and tyranny is always sought to disrupt human peace. The prerequisite for lasting world peace is global democratization. In Asia, Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead the way to permanent peace with models for global governance and world harmony. For more on human rights, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

'Alarming' rise in use of children in 'suicide' attacks by Boko Haram in Lake Chad region – UNICEF
The use of children, particularly girls, by the Boko Haram terrorist group in violent attacks in the Lake Chad region has seen an “alarming” surge in 2017, UNICEF reports.
Terrorist organizations are a serious violation of human nature that exist only because of public silence and apathy. Islamic nations of the world should adhere to the rule of law and the principle of One World under One Set of Laws. Constitutions everywhere need to be re-written to conform to the spirit of the times and avoid the rise of dictatorships. Every government is responsible for ensuring personal safety and protection against terrorism. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Turkish militants 'used tunnel to plant explosives'
A big explosion in the Turkish city of Diyarbakir which originally appeared to be an accident was actually the result of a terror attack, the interior minister has said.
Eradicating terrorism will require cooperation from all countries, and one vehicle for cooperation is the legislative process. An effective joint counter-terrorism coalition can be established through legislation. 1 or 2 persons from other nations, whether friend or foe, should be allowed to observe the lawmaking process in each other's legislative body in working to develop a common anti-terrorism program. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Brazil judge targets dozens of politicians for ‘corruption’
A Brazilian judge has revealed the names of dozens of politicians to be investigated over alleged involvement in a huge bribery scandal.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Brazil's constitutional mechanism is in disarray and the nation needs to carry out comprehensive constitutional reform. This should include giving power to the people through direct election of the heads of the four major government branches in alternating years as well as having a quarter of all lawmakers face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

10 things you should know about China’s first home-built aircraft carrier
China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier, the Type 001A, is in its final stages of construction. Military sources suggest the ship may be launched as early as April 23, the anniversary of the foundation of the PLA Navy.
The US and Japan should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to follow suit, resulting in the birth of world peace. Democracies the world over should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting China's path to peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Why won’t Hong Kong’s government let us take back our MPF?
It is time for scheme members to take control of their MPF... -- Cheng Yan-chee, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Executive Director, MPF
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still determined by China’s CEC, which exposes the dictatorial nature of its relationship with the SAR. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which clearly states that the people have the right to petition for referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
