When state organs violate the human rights of citizens and the Commissioner for Human Rights informs the President, the process seems to be working in reverse. China needs to have an independent "Super National Human Rights and Citizenship Executive Committee" with members recommended by global human rights organizations. Studies of democracy and peace show that there are rarely armed conflicts between two democratic states. Once China is democratized, there will be real hope for human peace. The US and Japan should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform, which will inspire the people of China to call for democratization- and the result will be world peace. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to peaceful development for China.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still selected by the CCP Election Commission, which is little more than another form of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law. To curb corruption, elect the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years and have 1/4 of all MPs face election each year; in addition, legislative committee chairs should be tapped to serve as backup cabinet ministers. The appalling state of Chad's infrastructure is due to disregard for international standards of constitutional, international and natural law and failure to adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws. Permanent peace can only be possible in Chad when it complies with Article 1 of the Humanitarian Charter and the principle of the right to enjoy life for victims of disasters and disease. The fundamental solution to the CCP's insults of human rights is democracy and the rule of law. Taiwan is a mature democracy that is well suited to lead the Chinese people toward democratization. True democracy will leave the CCP without a fig leaf to cover its shame and will allows China to advance from fear of democracy to democracy itself. China should implement election of the heads of the legislative executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years to restore the powers and rights of the people. Freedom of speech is a universal value, and China’s assault on the right of its citizens to speak out are an attempt to stifle the voice of the people and create a monolithic society. China’s people should come forth and seek comprehensive constitutional reform to protect media freedom and prevent the government oligarchy from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. China assured Hong Kong that would remain unchanged for 50 years, with the deadline set for 2047, but recently Beijing has become itchy. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law protects the people's right to self-determination, with the right to hold referendums on any public issue. The people of Hong Kong should adhere to this right and hold a referendum to decide their future. Otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, they will be obliged to resist.

Economic problems invariably have roots in politics. Without good politics, you will never have a good economy, and without constitutional reform even if the gods will be helpless to improve economic underperformance. The only way out is comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and a committee-style legislature with committee chairs tapped to serve as backup cabinet ministers. The Iraqi government should initiate constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system like Finland’s, with a committee-style legislature along the lines of Switzerland’s. The Iraqi government should draft a basic constitution with the above features as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, and it should be revised as needed to stay in step with changing times. To solve the immigration and refugee problem the international community needs to work out unified constitutional standards that conforms to the ideals of liberalism, democracy, constitutionalism and cosmopolitanism as well as the core values of One World under One Set of Laws. Only then will lasting peace be possible, under compliance with Article 1 of the Humanitarian Charter regarding the principle of the right to enjoy life for victims of catastrophes.
