The relevant provisions of Hong Kong’s Basic Law and the one country, two systems principle note that China cannot interfere in Hong Kong affairs, yet Beijing constantly meddles in internal affairs of the SAR. Article 39 of the Basic Law guarantees the right of the people to self-determination, and they have the right to hold referendums on any public issue.. The people of Hong Kong should adhere to their rights and hold a referendum to decide their future. Otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, they will be obliged to resist.
