The huge discount being offered by this seed and fertilizer giant for an herbicide tailored for use with GM soybeans shows that company officials are more concerned about the bottom line than the health of people who consume GM crops treated with problematic chemicals. Human security is a fundamental human right, and all nations should ensure that the public are protected against foods and ingredients that may be harmful to their health. This means holding international law superior to domestic law and applyinginternational standards to agribusiness and food companies. Terror suspect wore bomb as he rode subway to Times Square
A terrorist detonated a pipe bomb in a subway passage near Port Authority Bus Terminal, injuring three people and causing commuter chaos.
Fighting terrorism calls for participation by all citizens to guard against those who plan and carry out attacks on innocent citizens. It means providing full support to security agencies and personnel while at the same time working to remove the conditions that fosterterrorism. The key to eradicating terrorism is a change in government structures to improve power and resource allocation. Also needed is One World under One Set of Laws and a commitment to a common destiny for humankind. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including 'personal safety', is the most urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. This means revising constitutional standards as needed to keep pace with changing times and allow governments to protect their people from fear.
