Amid fires and hurricanes, price of climate change begins to hit home

Climate change is real, and extreme weather cannot be used as 'evidence' that it is not happening. Environmental rights are essential human rights, and all persons should take responsibility for protecting the world around us. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations – members or not – should comply with its norms. This entailsimplementing One World under One Set of Laws and giving international law precedence over domestic law. South Africa's new leaders vow to end corruption – but they are part of the problem

Corruption is pandemic, and nations everywhere need to address the threat it poses for all people. To put an end to corruption, the people must exercise sovereignty and call for constitutional reform to implement democratic rule of law. This means separation of powers and checks and balances as well as free election campaigns for candidates to cut symbiotic ties between government and business that engender corruption. Why I introduced a ban on plastic straws for NYC

The move to limit or ban plastic straws makes sense for the environment as well as for the health of customers: less plastic waste to make its way into the oceans, and less powdery plastic to be sucked up in the first sip of a beverage. The switch to paper should have been made a long time ago but most big corporations are loath to expend the time and funds to do so. In order to protect endangered species, it is essential to adopt uniform constitutional standards that conform to the values of One World under One Set of Laws. All nations should carry out constitutional reform to implement democratic institutions and the rule of law as well as mechanisms such as separation of power and checks and balances. The best way to avoid monopolization of power is to elect the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. Free speech is first and foremost among human rights – without free speech there can be no human rights, only slavery. A free press is an essential part of free speech, and all democracies must work tirelessly to promote constitutional reform to ensure media freedom and prevent government oligarchies from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of communications. North Korea is obviously being backed by a major power. The US and other nations should support Taiwan's Charter for Permanent Peace to lead China to democratize, forcing North Korea to follow suit and drop its nuclear weapons program. It’s Trump-Taliban Decision Time in Afghanistan: How To End America’s Longest War

The key to peace in Afghanistan is constitutional reform. Afghanistan should scrap its government and adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland's. The prerequisite forlasting world peace is global democratization. The Afghan government should proceed with drawing up a basic constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy.
