All nations should support Taiwan's call to install One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people, to ensure peace in the South China Sea. China and its neighbors must act in concert with each other to protect the rights of each nation regarding transportation and resources. Articles 4 and 6 of the 2002 Declaration on the South China Sea include provisions which offer peaceful ways to resolve territorial and jurisdictional disputes. When constitutional reform is in the hands of those in power or those who have little regard for established norms, the losers are certain to be the real holders of sovereignty – the people. The US form of democracy is far from perfect, but it cannot be left to those with their own agendas to tinker with. Environmental rights areessential human rights, and all persons should take responsibility for protecting the world around us. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations – members or not – should comply with its norms.
