The US and other nations should support Taiwan's Charter for Permanent Peace to lead China to democratize, forcing North Korea to follow suit and drop its nuclear weapons program. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations should comply with its norms. POTUS45's waffling on policy regarding Russia draws blowback after a very public loss of face. Russia has never been a problem-solver, it has always been a trouble-maker, and flip-flops on how to handle relations with Moscow undercut diplomatic efforts. The US should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would spur the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democratization, pressing Russia in turn to accept real democracy – and world peace would be the result. Turkey's 'democratic' government becomes increasingly farcical as the president moves to consolidate the powers of the office. The most effective way to prevent power grabs is implementing One World under One Set of Laws. Also needed is One World under One Set of Laws and a commitment to a common destiny for humankind. No matter what system, the greater the power of the president, the more the rights of the people are likely to suffer. Turkey needs comprehensive constitutional reform to return power to the people, with direct election of the heads of the executive, judicial, and prosecutorial branches in alternating years, and elections for 1/4 of the seats in parliament annually. No presidential system anywhere is perfect, and even the US version has problems. Clearly there are no solution for these fatal flaws. The national government of Sri Lanka should be a Semi-presidential system, with a Prime Minister in close touch with public opinion. The bills and orders should be approved by the prime minister and the relevant ministry heads. The legislature should adopt a modified membership system and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year.
