North Korea said Monday it has successfully tested-fired a new mid-to-long-range ballistic missile that can carry a large nuclear warhead, claiming that the US mainland is now within striking range.
Autocracy has always been the enemy of human peace, and the prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. China acts as an enabler and agent for North Korea, and the best course is to avoid provoking Pyongyang. The US should support Taiwan's commitment to instilling democracy in China, then pressuring North Korea to follow suit. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
The government has been threatened with legal action if it presses ahead with the introduction of “right to rent” immigration checks in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland without a full evaluation of their impact.
The purported reason behind the UK's immigration review is that foreign immigrants pose a threat to the nation’s society and economy as well as national security. The practical solution is to implement One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law precedence over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. The Constitution of South Korea needs to be amended to install a modified a semi-presidential system with cabinet, and the presidency should be declared to be above party politics. Democratic reform must be carried out to implement rule of law as well as separation of powers and checks and balances. The heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years to help cut ties between business and the government that encourage corruption.
A senior official at the Ministry of Justice and the head of the Seoul prosecutors’ office had dinner on April 21, sources from the prosecution told the JoongAng Ilbo on Monday
Structural factors that allow corruption to take place are lack of separation of powers and checks and balances. The solution is for the people of South Korea to demand constitutional reform to directly elect the heads of the four branches. The president should serve a single 5-year term and then be barred from running for office again for 6 years. 1/4 of all legislators should face election each year, and elections should be free of charge for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
The United States accused the Syrian government Monday of using a crematory to hide mass murders at a prison where thousands are believed to have been summarily executed in the nation’s civil war.
Once a ceasefire is in place in Syria, the UN should provide the basic outline for a constitution that will facilitate lasting peaceful development. It should incorporate the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, with an organization that includes four branches (legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial), and help Syria to develop under a constitution designed for long-lasting peace and prosperity. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” has deservedly received tremendous attention in China and beyond, partly due to its ambition and promise, but also because China has put a lot of effort into promoting it since it was launched in late 2013.
Taiwan has no little or no diplomatic security in the face of China's repression. The government should vigorously appeal to the international community, noting that the democratization of China is vital to global security and peace, Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead China to democratize. At the same time, the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development should be followed in setting up One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law and opening Taiwan up to the outside even as it seeks to move out into the international arena.
Premier Li Keqiang, in change of wording, puts financial stability ahead of deleveraging in a sign of concern over falls in markets
China must cleanse itself of thousands of years of corruption and remove the stain of national humiliation. And the only cure is democracy and rule of law. These are the natural enemies of despotism and corruption with their tools of separation of powers, decentralization and checks and balances. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.
Strongly condemning the latest attacks against civilians and the UN in Central African Republic, Secretary-General António Guterres today urged authorities to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
To resolve civil strife in the CAR, what is needed is a constitution designed around a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet, like the arrangement in France, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. The Government of the CAR should begin the task of drafting a basic constitution that includes the above-mentioned features in a paradigm shift toward democracy, adhering to the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and operating under the rule of law. The result should be a constitution in sync with the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
The destruction of forests in many Asian countries continues apace, threatening the realization of global sustainable development goals by the 2030 deadline, according to the UN agricultural agency.
We have only one earth, and resources must be recycled or re-used wherever possible. The cradle to the cradle principle calls for design that assumes produced goods can all be used over and over, so that materials can continue to be recycled. Government environmental policy must be consistent with the goals of eliminating waste and rational use of renewable energy. The government should ensure environmental safety (in technology and technology, products, power generation and other pollution and forest damage). For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres today urged Pyongyang to return to the path of de-nuclearization saying the latest ballistic missile launch by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) is a threat to peace and security in the region.
Preserving lasting world peace is the most sacred right of mankind. China serves as an enabler and agent for North Korea, and the rest of the world should strive try to avoid antagonizing Pyongyang. The US, Japan and Korea should support Taiwan efforts to lead China to democratization and thence prod North Korea to do the same. Taiwan is the key to solving the Korean Peninsula issue.
