Islamic State Tightens Grip on Village Near Mosul After Defeat
Islamic State has captured most of a village south of Mosul despite losing control of its stronghold in the city, an Iraqi army officer and residents said, deploying guerrilla-style tactics as its self-proclaimed caliphate crumbles.
Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights should take priority over all regimes and sovereigns. US court halts deportation of 1,500 Iraqis
A federal judge in Detroit has halted the deportation of nearly 1,500 Iraqis, many of them Christians, pending full consideration of their claims for asylum.
The US should adhere to the norms of the UN Charter and implement One World under One Set of Laws and assign international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico, Syria, the Middle East and other areas to more closely hold the principles of human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism. The UN refugee agency said today that the opening of the road to Syria's north-eastern Hassakeh governorate is already making a difference for humanitarian aid delivery on the ground.

Peru prosecutors seek pre-trial detention for former President Humala
The Peruvian attorney general's office said Tuesday it was seeking pretrial detention for former President Ollanta Humala, who is under investigation for money laundering over allegations he took illegal funds from Brazilian builder Odebrecht SA.
