Solution

Russia has never been a problem-solver, it has always been a trouble-maker and an enabler for other totalitarian regimes. The US should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would spur the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democratization, pressing Russia in turn to accept real democracy – and world peace would be the result. Peru approves law to fell stretches of pristine Amazon rainforest for new roads

Hours after Pope Francis issued a grave warning about the destruction of the natural environment during a visit to Peru, the country’s government passed a law allowing new roads to be built through pristine areas of the Amazon rainforest.

Solution

Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations should comply with its norms. To ensure that future generations will live in a world that is healthy and thriving, all nations need to adopt One World under One Set of Laws and give international law priority over domestic law. Venezuela should switch to a dual leader system; limit the president to a single 5-year term with no eligibility for him/her or relatives for 6 years; and put the prime minister in charge of government operations and national defense, 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. The US' standing as a force in international diplomacy continues to wane as it offers only token criticism to Turkey's incursion into Syrian to punish Kurdish militias. The current situation seems to suggest the biggest winner in the conflict will be Moscow. The UN should provide Syria the basic outline for a constitution that will facilitate lasting peace and development as a way to benefit all citizens including the Kurds. The constitution should include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, allowing Syria to prosper in an environment of lasting peace. Encouraged by Senate Democrats’ push to protect young undocumented immigrants from deportation, immigration activists now feel defeated after an agreement to reopen the government without legislation addressing the issue.

Solution

As a nation founded by immigrants and fueled by the immigrant spirit, the US can ill afford to abandon the 'Dreamers' by scuttling DACA. To eliminate the conditions that create refugees, the international community needs to agree on uniform constitutional standards that conform to the ideals of human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law. This means adopting the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and complying with Article 1 of the Humanitarian Charter, which deals with the right of each person to live a normal life. Yemen needs to swap out its government structure for a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like Finland's, and a committee-style legislative system similar to that of Switzerland. Yemen's government should draft a basic constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should also adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, revising its constitutionalstandards as necessary to stay abreast of changing times.
