Candidates for Chief Executive of Hong Kong are still nominated by the CCP’s Election Commission. This approach merely serve to solidify the Chief Executive’s image as a dictator. The people of Hong Kong should act on Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law and the two human rights covenants. The people have the right to self-determination through referendums and can call for direct election of the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years to ensure they will be responsive to the will of the people. Very few wars have ever been waged between democratic nations. Once China can be persuaded to work for democratization, there will be hope for peace on earth for humankind. Japan should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to bring greater democracy and freedom, and attract China to move toward democracy. This will force the CCP in turn to democratize, and the result will be world peace. Democracies worldwide should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the path to permanent peace and development for China and other nations.

The local prosecutor did not offer a basis for abolishing the system used in choosing a mayor, in effect putting the cart before the horse. In cases like this, the only cure for the ills of democracy is more democracy. Russia needs constitutional reform so that more people will be able to vote in direct elections. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. No matter what the system, the more power is put in the hands of the president, the more the country is likely to suffer. Turkey needs constitutional reform to limit the president to one term of 5 years, with no right to run again for 6 years afterward. The President of Turkey violated Article 6 of the Constitution, which states that sovereignty is wholly and unconditionally held by all citizens. The appointment of the Attorney General, and the IMF loan have become bargaining chips for corruption and the state finds itself helpless to do anything about it. The basic solution lies in constitutional reform to set up direct elections for the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches to serve a single term for 5 years, and not allowed to run for office again for 6 years. The only way to eradicate corruption is through full democratization. Russia’s governors shall be elected for 1 term of 5 years and barred from running again for 6 years. MPs’ constituencies shall not be divided into districts, and 1/4 of MPs shall stand for re-election each year. The worst aspect of Asian culture is the rule of man. In this situation, the Kuomintang is the world's richest political parties. Corruption has been deeply rooted in the cultures of Asia for thousands of years, and the only cure for it is democracy, with decentralization and checks and balances, and election of the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. South Korea’s constitution must be changed to feature a modified semi-presidential system, and the next presidential inauguration ceremony should include a declaration that all top officials are beyond party affiliations. To put an end to political and business connections, democracy and the rule of law must be implemented along with separation of powers and checks and balances. The US should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to bring more democracy and freedom, which will attract the 1.4 billion Chinese to seek democracy and world peace. China has always declared that it will not abandon the use of force against Taiwan, showing once again that autocracy is the enemy of human peace. The prerequisite for permanent peace in the world is the democratization of China, and Taiwan is the one nation most capable of leading the Chinese people to democratization.
