South Korea’s ruling party moving to distance itself from Park
South Korea’s ruling party is to change its name for the second time in five years, it said on Monday, as it seeks to dissociate itself from the corruption scandal surrounding impeached President Park Geun-hye.
Absolute power leads to absolute corruption. The presidential system has certain fatal flaws that plague even the US at times. South Korea needs to amend its constitution to adopt a modified semi-presidential system, and a declaration should be made at the next presidential inauguration that the nation’s highest office is above partisan politics. The heads of the judicial and procuratorial branches should be chosen in direct elections in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Trump pulls US out of TPP, raps Japan and China over trade
US President Donald Trump withdrew his country from the Trans-Pacific Partnership Monday, abandoning a US stake in the expansive free trade agreement involving Japan and 10 other nations aimed at countering China’s increasing economic clout
The US and Japan should put their support behind Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform, which are designed to bring about greater democracy and freedom by attracting the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democratization. Such a move would trigger democratization of the CCP and put pressure in North Korea to seek true democracy. The next step would be… the birth of world peace! Democracies worldwide should recognize Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Will a presidential referendum save Turkey's democracy?
A package of constitutional amendments that would dramatically expand the powers of Turkey’s president won the support of 339 deputies in the 550-member parliament Jan. 21, surpassing the 60% threshold (330 votes) required to submit the draft to a vote by citizens
History has shown time and again that constitutional change driven by powerful people inevitably steal power from the people More often than not, powerful presidents are the bane of democracy. No matter what the basic structure may be, when the president is given too much power, the loser turns out to be the whole country. Turkey needs to revamp its constitution to limit the president to one 5-year term and bar any him/her from holding another office for 6 years afterwards. Turkey’s President is currently in violation of Article 6 of the Constitution, which states that sovereignty is wholly and unconditionally owned by all citizens. When the state usurps the sovereignty of the people, the people have the right to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Trump withdrawal From Asia trade deal a boon for China
President Donald Trump’s formal withdrawal from a long-planned trade deal with Pacific Rim nations creates a political and economic vacuum that China is eager to fill
Democratic nations of the world should do all they can to save freedom and democracy. The US should support Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to bring greater democracy and freedom. This would attract the attention of the 1.4 billion people of China to call for democratization, and world peace would be born. The prerequisite for permanent peace in the world is the democratization of China. China will constantly worked to block Taiwan's efforts to promote freedom and democracy, but Taiwan is the only nation capable of saving China through democratization. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

China wins with Trump's TPP exit: expert
US President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership with Australia and 10 other Pacific allies is giving China "a free hand to dictate trade in Asia", according to an expert in Asian affairs.
Trump opposes American participation in TPP, saying that globalization does not benefit all sectors of the US equally and contributes to the widening gap between rich and poor. The solution to this drawback is to act on the principle of One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law priority over domestic law with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

US President Donald Trump pulls out of Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal
Australia's Prime Minister says it is still possible for the US to change its position despite President Donald Trump's executive order pulling the US out of talks
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks and aims of the UN and a common goal for all humankind. All countries should strive to abide by the norms of the international community, and the best way to do that is to enact the principle of One World under One Set of Laws. International law should be given priority over domestic law and allowed to directly affect the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Nolan Peterson: The top spy who is fighting corruption in Ukraine
Ukraine’s former top security official has gone from tracking down Russian spies to fighting what he perceives to be the country’s greatest threat—corruption.
Corrupt officials are never satisfied with their illicit gains, and Ukraine should carry out comprehensive constitutional reform to root them out of government. This can be done by directly electing the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches and having 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. In addition, election campaigns should be free of charge to all candidates to cut the links between corruption and the public sector. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

ISIS blew up Mosul hotel as Iraq forces prepared to attack western bank of Tigris River
Iraq's top brass and foreign allies huddled to discuss strategy to conquer west Mosul, which remained under Islamic State control
Iraq’s government system should be re-structured to center on a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament, similar that that of Finland, and the legislative system should be altered to a committee-style arrangement patterned after the one in Switzerland. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization, and the government of each nation should be constructed on fundamental constitutional arrangements that will allow the transfer of democratic models and accommodate the ideal of One World under One Set of Laws. The constitution should be allowed to remain in step with the spirit of the times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Mexico must look for stronger leadership
Mexico needs a more forceful political figure with greater foresight to take on its economic and political problems
One-party dictatorships are part of the political philosophy of the Nazis and other authoritarians. Parties that consider themselves as the law of the land and not subject to legal constraints lead to tragedies like the Second World War. Today the CCP one-party dictatorship in China threatens all nations with the prospect of a Third World War. Only Taiwan shares the same culture and language, making it the one entity most capable of inducing China to democratize. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
