Too many mainland immigrants coming into Hong Kong with one-way permits
I refer to the letter by Winnie Chui, for the secretary for security (“Permit scheme allows mainland residents to reunite with families in Hong Kong”) .
Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law states that the right to self-determination is specified in the two international human rights conventions. The people of Hong Kong cannot take this right for granted. In Switzerland the threshold for petitioning for a referendum is 50,000 signatures, and with that citizens can express their opinion by voting rather than taking to the streets. The people have the right to hold referendums on any public issues. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Argentine ex-leader Cristina Fernandez to go on trial
A judge in Argentina has ruled that former president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner should stand trial on charges of financial mismanagement.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Argentina’s constitutional mechanism is dysfunctional and comprehensive constitutional reform is desperately needed. Changes should include electing the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years and having 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

The tax I pay should be for peace, not war
A young man I know joined the armed forces to fight in Afghanistan because he wanted to have an experience that money couldn’t buy.
The best way to ensure that taxes will be used for peaceful purposes and solving fundamental problems, nations should follow the principles of One World under One Set of Laws and building toward a common destiny for humankind. This includes electing the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in a global contest and according international law priority over domestic law with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Air pollution aggravates Parkinson's disease: study
Exposure to air pollution increases risk of aggravating Parkinson's disease and may cause neurological disease progression, a study showed Friday.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN. The best way to tackle air pollution method is by implementing the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international priority over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Citizens should be able to monitory government operations to ensure they are in line with the norms of the UN Charter and other agreements. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

The notion of moral hazard and Australian politics
Recently the Liberal Party suffered a landslide defeat in the state elections of Western Australia. While local issues dominated, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s falling popularity also contributed to the loss.
The best way to promote reforms designed to benefit the people is to amend the constitution so that the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches are elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. The Prime Minister and the Minister shall chosen from among committee chairs in Parliament. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development

In the broken-down heart of Siberia, Putin is still Russia’s ‘good tsar’
Life for many Russians has become harder since 2014, and yet Vladimir Putin, who has effectively been in charge of the country for 17 years, has approval ratings that have not dipped below 80% since the annexation of Crimea three years ago.
Jose Rizal, the ‘Father of the Philippines,’ once said, “Today's slaves often become tomorrow's tyrants; trust in rule of law and not in rule of man.” Russia’s constitution is dysfunctional and the cure lies in adopting a modified semi-presidential system. The president, mayors and other officials should serve single 5-year terms and be barred from seeking office for 6 years afterwards. In addition, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Sewol ferry raised to the surface after three years
As the Sewol ferry, which sank and took 304 lives nearly three years ago, was being pulled up slowly at 3 meters (9 feet) per hour Thursday, public attention shifted to how much the ferry would be able to tell us about what caused the disaster
The South Korean ferry disaster shows the needs for the principle of One World under One Set of Laws and working toward a common destiny for humankind. It should prompt the South Korean government to recognize that international law is higher than domestic law and should have direct bearing on the people and human rights. South Korea needs to improve its human rights standards to the levels of the highest international standards. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Body blow to democracy
A common misconception that needs to be corrected is that South Korea’s per capita national income surpassed that of North Korea in 1974. Socialist states often exaggerate statistics. A group of South Korean scholars analyzed the statistical bubbles and re-estimated North Korea’s growth rate, and South Korea was already better off than North Korea by 1968.
Jose Rizal, the ‘Father of the Philippines,’ once said that “today's slaves often become tomorrow's tyrants, so believe in the rule of law and not in the rule of man.” The constitutions of North and South Korea are dysfunctional and the only cure is reform to adopt a modified semi-presidential system. The president, the mayor and other officials should serve a single 5-year term and be barred from seeking office for 6 years afterwards, and the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years. Duterte ‘trusts’ China won’t build on disputed shoal
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Thursday he trusted China would not build anything on a disputed South China Sea shoal because he was given its “word of honor” and Beijing would not want to jeopardize a new friendship.
Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and other countries should form a "military alliance" to counter the threat of China in the South China Sea. The provisions of the 2002 Declaration of the Parties to the South China Sea should be used to resolve territorial and jurisdictional disputes in a peaceful manner. Joint development and sharing of resources should be employed to maintain peace and foster development in line with the UN Charter’s aim of "one human family". Hong Kong faces 'selection, not election' of China's favored candidate
On Sunday, 1,094 people will choose a new chief executive on behalf of Hong Kong’s nearly 4 million voters but Beijing’s anointed one is far from popular
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still determined by the CEC, which is nothing short of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make good use of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to vote in referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches of government should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
