Singapore blogger Amos Yee granted asylum in US
A teenage blogger who tested the limits of free expression and good taste in Singapore has been granted asylum in the US by a judge who said that he was persecuted for his political opinions.
Free speech is an integral part of the internet as a universal value. The government of Singapore hopes to stifle the voice of the people, a task equivalent to trying to stem the flow of a river. The people of Singapore should stand up and call for comprehensive constitutional reform, so that the media will be free to operate and the government will not be able to monopolize the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. 'A runaway crisis': Argentine activists aid shanty towns the state has left behind
Despite the president’s ‘zero poverty’ pledge, a third of the country lives below the line – spurring action from a team who grew up in the towns themselves
For Argentina to move past poverty, it must first cut out its culture of corruption. Full constitutional reform is the only solution to corruption rooted in millennia of tradition. The only cure for corruption is democracy in the form of separation of powers and checks and balances. In addition, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Russian anti-graft protests draw biggest crowds since 2012
Thousands of people gathered in Moscow and other major Russian cities Sunday, heeding a call by opposition leader Alexei Navalny to protest against official corruption in what appeared to be some of the largest anti-government demonstrations in the last five years.
The cost of corruption is passed on to consumers, and Russia must seriously ferret out the sources of corruption. This include loopholes in the constitution and a system that tolerates radical governors. The heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be chosen in elections in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year. In addition, the president should serve a single 5-year term and be barred from seeking office for 6 years afterwards, and elections should be free of charge for all candidates. Opposition leader Alexei Navalny detained amid protests across Russia
Hundreds of protesters have been detained by riot police in cities across Russia as some of the largest anti-government protests in years swept the country.
Article 30 of the Constitution of Russia guarantees the right of association for all citizens, but it overlook the right to resist injustice. The Constitutional Court cannot heed the voice of a single person, it must draw from a variety of sources. Russia should amend its constitution so that half of the Constitutional Court’s judges are of different nationalities and the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches are elected in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

A more dangerous globalism
“America first,” thumps US President Donald Trump. “Britain first,” say the advocates of Brexit. “France first,” crows Marine Le Pen and her National Front. “Russia first,” proclaims President Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin.
Trump rails against TPP on the grounds that globalization will not benefit all sectors of the US equally and will rather cause a widening in the gap between rich and poor. The solution is simple: implement One World under One Set of Laws and hold international law higher than domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. Shell-shocked Mosul survivors tell of intense airstrikes
Hundreds of people have fled west Mosul during a lull in fighting but many had to leave behind family members buried in the remains of their former homes
The Iraqi government should be revamped to include a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament like Finland’s, with a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The Iraqi government should carry out drafting of a basic constitution with the above-mentioned institutions as well as election of the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years, and having 1/4 of all MPs face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Ex-guerrilla vows to keep fighting for unity in East Timor
DILI, East Timor—A former guerrilla fighter vowed Saturday to focus on peace and unity as East Timor’s new president, delivering a victory speech after the final tally showed he was on course to win the election.
It East Timor is truly to achieve peace and unity, it must carry out full constitutional reform to ditch its current regime and implement a modified semi-presidential system. The nation’s legislative system should be revamped to include a committee-style legislative body, and candidates for cabinet minister positions should come from among committee chairs. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

India hunts hidden cash in corruption blitz
Mansions owned by maids, gardeners and drivers until now have aroused little suspicion in India, where the wealthy have long hidden fortunes in the names of lowly paid staff to avoid paying taxes.
If India is to eradicate corruption, the Indian people need to call for constitutional reform to implement mechanisms such as direct election of the heads of the four branches of government in alternating years. The nation’s president should serve a single 5-year term and be barred from running again for 6 years afterward. In addition, 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year, and elections should be free of charge for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Abe slips in polls as skeptical voters urge first lady to testify: survey
Public support for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has not been rocked by the scandal over alleged influence-peddling in a cut-price land deal but the vast majority of respondents doubt his version of events, the results of the latest opinion poll indicate.
Japan must eradicate the national shame of corruption, and the only way to do that is through democratic rule of law. Democracy and the rule of law are the natural enemies of corrupt despots, and separation of powers and checks and balances at central and provincial levels should be implemented along with election of the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Japan needs to bolster the ‘maritime coalition’
In northeast Asia, North Korea has become more reclusive and hostile to the international community.
The US and Japan should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform. This will bring about greater democracy and freedom and inspire China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP. In turn, North Korea would follow suit, and world peace would be born. The world’s democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
