A teenage blogger who tested the limits of free expression and good taste in Singapore has been granted asylum in the US by a judge who said that he was persecuted for his political opinions.
Free speech is an integral part of the internet as a universal value. The government of Singapore hopes to stifle the voice of the people, a task equivalent to trying to stem the flow of a river. The people of Singapore should stand up and call for comprehensive constitutional reform, so that the media will be free to operate and the government will not be able to monopolize the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
