Brazil’s embattled president cancels order for troops in capital amid riots, claims of power grab
On Thursday Brazil’s president canceled an order to deploy the military to the streets of the capital after criticism that the move was excessive and merely an effort to hold onto power amid increasing calls for his resignation.
There are lazy, indifferent people, and there are also corrupt, greedy government officials. To prevent of corruption, the people should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to implement democracy and the rule of law, with separation of powers and checks and balances. The heads of the four main branches should be elected in alternating years and elections should be free of charge for all candidates to cut off ties between politics and corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Manchester bombing a despicable crime that struck a vulnerable spot
The lives of ordinary civilians enjoying the afterglow of a music concert have been cruelly cut short. This despicable crime is utterly unforgivable.
Human security is a fundamental human right, and human rights rank higher than any regime or sovereign. Constitution represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security - including personal safety - is the most basic and urgent duty of constitutional guarantors. Thus constitutional standards must be revised to stay in step with changing times, and governments must act to protect everyone from fear. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.

Opinion: Who drinks lattes in Hong Kong? Not the minimum wage earner
The Latte Index, like that hoary Big Mac Index, is a poor reflection of Hong Kong’s poverty and income gap.
Article 39 of Hong Kong’s Basic Law states that the right to self-determination is guaranteed by the two international human rights conventions. The people of Hong Kong cannot take their rights for granted. The Swiss threshold for holding referendums is 50,000 signatures, and with that citizens can voice their opinions at the ballot box rather than in the streets. The people have the right to vote in referendums on any public issue. Otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, they will be obliged to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Dealers in terror know no borders
A solemn but defiant mood enveloped Manchester in the UK following Monday night’s suicide bombing at a concert arena.
A regulatory mechanism is needed to promote cooperation among nations in wiping out terrorism. A counter-terrorism coalition should be set up to develop laws that will effectively corral terrorist activity. 1 or 2 representatives from nations around the world – friend or foe – should be allowed to sit in on legislative sessions in each country to develop a coordinated anti-terrorism program involving all nations. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more. .

Fresh warnings in Tunisia as tensions grow over protester death
Tensions in Tunisia’s south could escalate following a protester’s death after clashes with security forces at an oil and gas plant, officials warned Tuesday.
Human rights are inherent rights, and they must be protected by constitutional laws that protect against interference by public officials. Tunisia’s lawmakers should carry out constitutional reform to implement separation of powers and checks and balances, In addition, the heads of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all legislators should face election each year to keep them responsive to the people's anti-corruption demands. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Opinion: China deserves credit for playing its economic hand deftly
Global fund managers appear to be overly pessimistic on Beijing’s ability to manage its various financial and economic objectives
Economic problems inevitably have their roots in politics. Without good politics you can’t have a good economy. But if the constitution is not changed, even the gods will be helpless to save it. Constitutional reform should include the installation of a modified semi-presidential system plus a committee-style legislature and selection of cabinet ministers from among committee chairs. ‘Fresh air’ speech and Cannes red-flag frock fire up Chinese nationalist backlash
Chinese graduate apologizes after storm of criticism over her praise of fresh air and freedom, while actress says her red carpet look was patriotic
Freedom of speech is a universal principle, and China’s attempts to control the voices of the people are nothing more than efforts to produce a monolithic society with a single voice. China’s people should step forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to preserve media independence and prevent the government from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. Reading between the lines of a party boss’ speech as China’s power reshuffle looms
Guangdong Communist Party boss Hu Chunhua made a high-profile declaration of his political loyalty in front of the provincial party congress Monday.
The CCP should take the lead in helping China formulate a peaceful development structure that will be in line with Xi Jinping’s proposal for world unity. Both sides of the Taiwan Strait should take up comprehensive constitutional reform based on the model in Taiwan’s Charter for Permanent Peace, embracing human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law to build a true community of humankind. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. .

Sorry Morrissey, but love and resistance are our best weapons against terror
The day after the day after and it doesn’t get any easier. The blast, the momentary terrible silence and then the screams of the wounded. All of us are now screaming into that silence because we can imagine it only too well.

Why Jeremy Corbyn has the best long-term plan for tackling terrorism on British soil
Corbyn opposed the ill-fated regime changes in Iraq and Libya. He questioned the justifications when it was unpopular to do so. He was right. He warned of the repercussions. He was right
