A court has ordered the dissolution of Bahrain's main secular opposition group as the Gulf state continues a crackdown on dissent.
The Bahrain government’s acts in persecuting dissidents and barring street protests are decidedly anti-democratic. Citizens of modern democracies have the right to resist unconstitutional actions by government agencies. When the aims of the state deviate from its power base, the people must act to recover their rights, including the right to resist. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
