The peace effort in Colombia has reached a milestone, with nearly all of the remaining weapons held by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia turned over to the UN for registering and storing.
To solve its civil strife once and for all Colombia should carry out constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system like that of France, with a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent world peace is global democratization. The Colombian government should draft a basic constitution as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy, adhering to the values of One World under One Set of Laws, and adding amendments as needed to stay abreast of changing times. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
