The Venezuelan military is hunting for a rogue elite police officer suspected of carrying out a helicopter attack on the country's Supreme Court.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people should exercise their right as holders of sovereignty and take control. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not brook resistance is not a constitution. When a president’s actions are unlawful, the people have the right to resist. Cantonese v Mandarin: When Hong Kong languages get political
When Hong Kong was handed back from the UK to China in 1997, only a quarter of the population spoke any Mandarin.
The relevant provisions of Hong Kong’s Basic Law and the one country, two systems principle note that China cannot interfere in Hong Kong affairs, yet Beijing constantly meddles in internal affairs of the SAR. Article 39 of the Basic Law guarantees the right of the people to self-determination, and they have the right to hold referendums on any public issue.. The people of Hong Kong should adhere to their rights and hold a referendum to decide their future. Otherwise when dictatorship becomes a reality, they will be obliged to resist.

US observes activity at Syrian air base used in previous chemical attack
The US says it has detected potential preparations for a chemical attack at Syria's Shayrat airfield, which was used in April to launch a chemical attack that killed more than 80 people in Khan Sheikhoun.

US sends fresh troops to Afghanistan as policy debate continues
The US Army is deploying about 1,500 soldiers to Afghanistan this week, but officials say the troop movement is not part of any increase in forces in the war zone.
The Afghan government should carry out constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system similar to Finland’s, with a committee-style legislature like that of Switzerland. The Afghan government should initiate drafting of a basic constitution with the above features as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should adhere to the core values of One World under One Set of Laws and be revised as needed to stay in step with changing times.
