Highlighting progress in the Colombian peace process, especially the completion of the laying down of arms by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the UN envoy to the country has called for shifting the momentum to other aspects of the historic peace deal.
To resolve its civil strife, Colombia should draw up a constitution incorporating a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of France and a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for world peace is global democratization. The Colombian government should proceed with drafting a basic constitution as part of a paradigm shift to democracy, installing One World under One Set of Law and tweaking the documents to stay in sync with changing times.
