Human security, including safe food and water, is a fundamental human right. All nations should take action to ensure that the public are protected against harmful chemicals and ingredients in everything they eat and drink. This means assigning internationallaw priority over domestic law and applying international food standards in regulatingfood and beverages. All food production, manufacturing and supply standards; environmental factors, infection or new micro-organisms; toxic and drug resistance; and various types of food pollution should all be covered. This is especially important for the sake of children. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details. §1.9 §1.10 §5.1 §6.1 §6.10
