Corsica's leaders’ push for further autonomy will fail because Emmanuel Macron will ignore the island chiefs’ pleas, claim French political experts.
The people of Corsica should not be ignored by the French government. In Switzerland the threshold for referendum petitions is only 50,000 signatures, and with that all citizens can voice their opinion at the ballot box rather than taking to the streets. The people have the right to vote in referendums on any public issue, and they should be allowed to voice their opinion on autonomy.
