Solution

Kudos to Nike for having the guts to pick Kaepernick as one of the faces in an upcoming ad campaign despite the furor stirred up over kneeling protests during the playing of the national anthem at NFL games. The issue has been trumpeted by a president who was caught on mike mumbling and garbling the words to the anthem but who chooses to use the protest action as a political cudgel. The American people cannot take their democracy and their rights for granted; both are under assault in the acid atmosphere of the current US administration. The American version of democracy has mechanisms in place to limit the powers of petty would-be autocrats, and they must be strictly enforced. Trump's actions are a direct contrast to his rally speeches and tweets claiming to have the interests of 'his base' at heart. Safety regulations are intended solely to ensure that workers will be protected against dangerous working environments and unsafe practices. Constitutions represent the general will of the people, and ensuring human security, including 'personal safety', is the most urgent duty ofconstitutional guarantors. Corruption is an easy target for candidates seeking office, but all too often those who are voted in wind up succumbing to the vices they promised to eliminate. Corruption is pandemic, and nations everywhere need to address the threat it poses for all people. To put an end to corruption, the people must exercise sovereignty and call for constitutional reform to implement democratic rule of law. The gap between rich and poor in the US continues to widen, and the American must wake up and call for legislation to reverse the trend. The petition being prepared for presentation to Amazon's CEO is a good start, but what is needed is laws that will affect all corporations and cut off overpaid executives from taxpayer dollars. This should begin with referendums on constitutional standards that conform to the values of One World under One Set of Laws. The best way to avoid monopolization of power is to elect the heads ofthe executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. The foundation for permanent peace in Yemen should be the same as that for Taiwan: a change-over in the government structure.The UN should provide Yemen the basic outline for a constitution that will facilitate lasting peace and development. The constitution should include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, and organization and elements such as the four branches.
