Permanent Peace Partnership
It was hard to spot the protesters at first on Moscow's main street. The vast majority were not carrying placards.
Free speech is a universal value, but Russia seems anxious to create a monolithic society that speaks in one voice. The Russian people should step forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to preserve media independence and prevent the government oligopoly from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
The former governor of Brazil's Rio de Janeiro state has been sentenced to 14 years and two months in prison for corruption and money laundering.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Brazil's constitutional mechanism is dysfunctional and constitutional reform is imperative. The heads of the four branches should be elected in alternating years and 1/4 of all legislators should face election each year. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Foreign diplomats stationed in Taiwan do not need to travel far to meet officials from the island's international aid office.
China's practice of hindering Taiwan's participation in the international arena is not conducive to the development of cross-strait relations and will only strengthen Taiwan's resistance. Taiwan’s cause needs to be vigorously promoted in the international community: Democratization of China is essential to world security and peace, and Taiwan is the entity best suited to lead China to democratization. At the same time, the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development , and One World under One Set of Laws should be implemented everywhere in support of Xi Jinping’s proposal for global unity.
Forty-eight Zambian MPs from the opposition UPND have been suspended for 30 days for boycotting President Edgar Lungu's state of the nation address
Free speech is a universal value, and Zambia's suspension of MPs is little more than an attempt to silence opposition and create a monolithic society with only one voice. The people of Zambia should step forward and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to preserve media independence and prevent the government oligarchy from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. .
Protesters in Venezuela paid their final respects to a teenager who was killed this week during a demonstration against President Nicolas Maduro.
When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people should exercise their right as holders of sovereignty and take control. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws, and a constitution which does not condone resistance is not a constitution. When the president’s actions are unconstitutional the people have the right to resist. Venezuelans should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet; limiting the president to one 5-year term with no eligibility to run again for 6 years afterwards. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.
Twenty-eight years after the June 4,1989, violent crackdown on pro-democracy protests in and around Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, little remains to remind visitors of what happened that day
Autocratic dictatorship is a cancer, and despots are sinners against democracy. The simple solution to persecution of human rights in China is democracy and the rule of law. Taiwan is the one entity best suited to lead China to democratize. All democracies should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform and the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
The US territory of Puerto Rico has voted to ask Congress to make it America's 51st state.
Taiwan should study Puerto Rico’s independence referendum and initiate a paradigm shift. The aim should be to establish that the people have the right to hold referendums on any public issue. And should a motion prohibiting a referendum on self-determination be made, the topic of the first referendum should be whether such a motion should itself be outlawed. Lawmakers should first establish the "right of creation" through a "Referendum Act," asking President Tsai to openly speak out for comprehensive constitutional reform. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. .
A Moscow court has sentenced Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny to 30 days in jail for staging an unsanctioned rally in in the capital.
First come the warnings, then the accidents, and finally come the deaths: that is the usual way government opponents are suppressed in Russia. Russia needs to amend its constitution so people can be free from fear and free from being investigated for participating in political events. When innocent citizens disappear simply for participating in protests, regardless of who the perps may be - from the President down to relevant local officials - all must bear responsibility. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
President Nicolas Maduro's plan to rewrite the constitution is opposed by 85 percent of Venezuelans

Soccer great Pep Guardiola has called on the international community to support a referendum on Catalan independence that Spain’s government considers illegal.
Why do Catalonians want independence? Clearly the fundamental laws of Spain are the problem. The government should re-evaluate allocation of resources to convince Catalonians to stay with Spain, otherwise secession will always be more attractive. In the US the system is better equipped to keep down calls for independence. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
