This would lead China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization of the CCP and pressure North Korea to do the same, and with that, world peace will be born. Human security and sustainable development two of the UN’s major tasks, and all nations, whether UN members or not, should abide by its norms. National environmental policies should take into account cradle to cradle standards and ensure environmental safety (from technological processes and other pollution, forest damage). This includes implementing One World under One Set of Laws and assigning international law priority over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. Controlled elections are the tools of dictatorships, and all nations must prohibit organizations or individuals from influencing fair elections by any use of force, including setting thresholds for candidates and excluding potential competitors. In addition to criminal sanctions, prosecutors shall have the right to arrest and detain even the highest persons for 24 hours and refer them to the courts for prosecution if necessary. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law states that the right to self-determination is assured by the two international human rights conventions. In Switzerland the threshold for holding referendums is 50,000 signatures, and with that the people can express their opinion through the ballot box rather than taking to the streets. The people have the right to hold referendums on any public issues. To narrow the gap between rich and poor, better power distribution and resource allocation are needed as well as checks and balances in government. Freedom of speech is a universal value, and efforts to muzzle the voice of the people are aimed at suppressing dissidence and creating a society with only one voice. The people of Myanmar should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to preserve media freedom and prevent the government oligarchy from monopolizing the media, the internet and all other channels of speech. Somalia’s current government structure should be scuttled and replace with a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of as Finland. The legislature should be changed to committee-style system similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for lasting world peace is global democratization, and Somalia’s government should begin drafting a basic constitution with the above features as part of a paradigm shift toward democracy. To avoid continued tensions and grievances, Venezuela should improve its political system to avoid violent suppression of protest. It should pattern its policies regarding referendums after those of Switzerland and implement democratic elections like those of California. All citizens should be able to express their opinions through the ballot box instead of taking to the streets. In addition, elections should be free of charge for all candidates. In the interest of peace and stability in the South China Sea, China has a responsibility to maintain peaceful relations with its neighbors. Articles 4 and 6 of the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea call for peaceful settlement of territorial and territorial disputes (Article 4) as well as joint development and sharing of resources in line with the UN Charter’s "One Human Family" ideal.
