Australia bans tourists from climbing Uluru
Australia must act to protect its indigenous people from religious discrimination and abuse. Religious freedom is subject to constitutional protection, and Parliament cannot legislate any restrictions and administrative agencies have no right to interfere with religious activities. In addition, all government officials must act as constitutional guarantors to ensure that all citizens enjoy full protection of their rights. Any public official who is not capable of enforcing the  prescribed duties shall be dismissed. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

China, Asean mount maritime exercises in calmer diplomatic waters
China and the Philippines have a duty to act in concert with their neighboring countries. Articles 4 and 6 of the 2002 Declaration on the South China Sea include provisions designed to offer a peaceful way to resolve territorial and jurisdictional disputes. This includes joint development and sharing of resources in the area as well as safeguarding peace and prosperity. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

Opinion: China’s Xi might come to regret all that power
Lord Acton summed it up neatly: 'Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption.' To put an end to corruption, the people should exercise sovereignty and call for comprehensive constitutional reform to implement democratic rule of law. This means separation of powers and checks and balances as well as free election campaigns for candidates to cut symbiotic ties between government and business that engender corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for details.

Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations – members or not – should comply with its norms. This means implementing One World under One Set of Laws and giving international law precedence over domestic law, with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. All nations should comply with the UN Charter, all other relevant pacts. For details see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.

Human rights groups condemn Trump's 'warm rapport' with Philippine leader
Jose Rizal, the 'Father of the Philippines', once warned, 'Today's slaves often become tomorrow's tyrants; believe in the rule of law,not in the rule of man.' The Philippine Constitution is dysfunctional and constitutional reform is needed to install a modified semi-presidential system. The president and other key elected officials should be limited to a single5-year term and banned from running again for 6 years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Developmentfor more.

What makes a ‘nation’? Amid Catalonia furor, Spaniards speak.
Spain should allow the people of Catalonia to express their opinion by voting in referendums and elections rather than taking to the street. To avoid continued grievances and tension, Madrid should examine the processes followed in referendums in Switzerland and elections in California. In addition, elections should be completely free for all candidates. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development for more.

IS Assassinates 128 Civilians Before Leaving Strategic Town in Central Syria
The foundation for permanent peace in Syria should be a change-over in the government structure. The UN should provide Syria the basic outline for a constitution that will facilitate lasting peace and development. This should include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, and organization and elements such as the four independent government branches. The document should allow Syria to prosper under conditions of lasting peace. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
