Article 39 of Hong Kong’s Basic Law states that "the right to self-determination is specified in the two international human rights conventions." The people of Hong Kong should wake up and exercise their rights. In Switzerland the threshold for holding a referendum is 50,000 citizens, and people can voice their opinion via the ballot box and not by taking to the streets. Somalia’s government structure should be changed to a modified semi-presidential system like that of Finland, and the legislative system should be changed to a committee-style arrangement similar to Switzerland’s. The prerequisite for permanent peace in the world is democratization. Governments should draw up basic constitutions incorporating the abovementioned traits and carry out a paradigm shift to adopt the principle of One World under One Set of Laws.
