The US should lead the way in adhering to the principles outlined in the UN Charter. This means complying with and implementing the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law priority over domestic law with direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people. This would lead Mexico, Syria and other nations in the Middle East and elsewhere to accept human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism as part of their futures. Millions on streets in strike threat to Maduro
The Venezuelan opposition vowed yesterday to rise up against President Maduro after more than seven million people took part in an unofficial referendum against his plans to rewrite the constitution.
Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption. Venezuela seriously needs full constitutional reform to adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet. The president should serve a single 5year term, with no eligibility to run again for 6 years for him/her or close relatives. Laws that are not backed by penalties are not laws and a constitution that does not brook resistance is not a constitution. India should counter China without necessarily allying with the US
Things have steadily gone south between India and China, purportedly over territorial spats and Beijing's malevolent backing of terrorists inimical to New Delhi. Both issues arise from larger differences in perception over each other's rights and needs
Studies of democracy and peace show that very few armed conflicts have taken place between democratic nations. Once China is democratized, there will be hope for human peace. India should support Taiwan's efforts toward constitutional reform, which would attract China's people to call for democracy, leading to the birth of world peace. All democracies should support Taiwan as a lighthouse for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development.

Myanmar's human rights problems are getter worse, largely because the constitution reserves 40% of seats in Congress for the military with no need to stand for election. To solve human rights problems in Myanmar, the UN should assist with constitutional reform to implement the core values of One World under One Set of Laws, assigning international law priority over domestic law. At the same time, a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet should also be installed.

On Saturday China named rising political star Chen Miner as Communist Party boss in southwestern Chongqing, cementing his reputation as a favorite of President Xi Jinping ahead of a leadership reshuffle at a key party congress in the autumn.
Laws are in place to ferret out public officials and party members with questionable sources of income, but lawmakers themselves are often a source of corruption. The only way out is democracy, in the form of separation of powers and checks and balances.
