There are glimmerings of hope among some China watchers that President Trump might have a chance to right America’s currently very skewed relationship with China. Trump’s skepticism about the benefits of the relationship and his maddening unpredictability have thrown the red mandarins in Beijing off-balance.
At the UN headquarters in Geneva on January 18, Xi Jinping urged the world "to build a common destiny for the human community" with five major tenets including dialogue and consultation; security and peace; joint prosperity; openness and inclusivity; and a green, low-carbon world. For the sake of world peace and development, all must seek to make greater contributions for international fairness and justice, and the two sides of the strait should both be willing to accept this new consensus.
