Whether they are members of the UN or not, all nations should follow the two major tasks of UN: 'human security' and 'sustainable development'. The solution is giving international law precedence over domestic law, with direct bearing on the people. For more, see the Charter for Permanent Peace.

Article 35 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of China stipulates that citizens of the PRC should enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of
procession, and of demonstration. Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law stipulates that the people of the SAR have the right to self-determination under the two international human rights conventions. The people of Hong Kong cannot take their rights for granted. In Switzerland the threshold for petitioning a referendum is only 50,000 signatures, and with that

When the power of the state deviates from its power base, the people must act on their roles as sovereigns to recover power. Laws that are not backed by penalties are notlaws, and a constitution which does not countenance resistance is not a constitution. When the actions of the president are unconstitutional, the people are obligated to resist. The people of Turkey should call for comprehensive constitutional reform to install a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet.
