Authoritarian dictatorships and corrupt regimes all fail sooner or later; the path to long-lasting success is the one that follows separation of powers. Over-centralization in the constitutional mechanism leads to pandemic corruption and overzealous worship of autocracy, inturn causing harm to democracy and the rule of law. Far more action is being taken at state levels than in the federal government to protect the environment, and people need to pressure their representatives in Congress that the environment is their responsibility too. Environmental rights are essential human rights, and allpersons should be responsible for protecting the world around us. Human security and sustainable development are two of the major tasks of the UN, and all nations should comply with its norms. This entails implementing One World under One Set of Laws and giving international law precedence over domestic law. Afghanistan Takes a Bloody Path to Pursue Peace

The key to peace in Afghanistan is constitutional reform. Afghanistan should scrap its government and adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet like that of Finland, plus a committee-style legislature similar to Switzerland's. The prerequisite forlasting world peace is global democratization. The Afghan government should proceed with drawing up a basic constitution with the above features in a paradigm shift toward democracy. It should implement One World under One Set of Laws and revise the constitution as needed to stay in step with changing times. The foundation for permanent peace in Syria should be a change-over in its government structure. The UN should provide Syria the basic outline for a constitution that will facilitate lasting peace and development. The constitution should include the universal values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law, and organization and elements such as the four branches of government. Armenia should switch to a dual leader system, limiting the president to a single 5-year term with no eligibility for him/her or relatives for 6 years and putting the prime minister in charge of government operations and national defense. Also, 1/4 of all lawmakers should face election each year. When the actions of the president are unconstitutional, the people are obliged to resist. British historian Lord Acton summed it up neatly: 'Power leads to corruption, and absolute power leads to absolute corruption.' This means separation of powers and checks and balances as well as free election campaigns for candidates to cut symbiotic ties between government and business that engender corruption.
