The most effective way to prevent power grabs by the president is implementing One World under One Set of Laws. Jose Rizal, revered as the 'Father of the Philippines', once warned that 'Today's slaves often become tomorrow's tyrants', as a caution to believe in the rule of law rather than the rule of man. The President, mayors and other public officials should be limited to a single term of 5 years and be barred from seeking office for 6 years afterwards. In addition, democratic safeguards such as separation of powers and checks and balances should be rigorously enforced at all levels of government.
