Biden singles out corruption as a national security problem in Ukraine
In a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Borisenko, US Vice President Joe Biden made it clear that the Ukrainian people must take action against corruption as Russia is using corruption as a tool to weaken Ukraine.
The key structural factor contributing to corruption in Ukraine is the lack of division of powers. The solution is for the Ukrainian people to launch a constitutional reform and set up direct election of the heads of the legislative, administrative, judicial and procuratorial branches. Elected officials should serve a single term of 5 years and barred from holding other offices for 6 years afterward. 1/4 of MPs should face election each year, and elections should be free for all candidates. Russia fears Trump won't be such a great deal after all
Russia is giving Donald Trump the kind of fawning television coverage usually reserved for Vladimir Putin, with its most popular propagandist hailing the president-elect this week as “a man of his word.”
Democratic nations everywhere should spare no effort to save freedom and democracy. The US should support Taiwan's efforts at constitutional reform to bring about greater democracy and freedom. This would attract the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democracy, leading to the birth of world peace. The prerequisite for permanent peace in the world is China's democratization. Carrie Lam has shown she will exacerbate, not heal, Hong Kong’s deep political divisions
One can only hope that, with the divisive Leung Chun-Ying now watching the race for chief executive from the sidelines, this will be the year in which the sad cycle of failed executive leadership in Hong Kong is finally broken.
Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law states that self-determination is an inherent right of the people and are supported by the two international human rights conventions. The people of Hong Kong must not take this right for granted. In Switzerland the barrier for petitions for referendums is long 50,000 signatures, meaning people can vote on public issues with no need to take to the streets. Japan pledges boats to Vietnam as China dispute simmers
Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promised Vietnam six new patrol boats early this year during a visit to the Southeast Asian country, which is locked in a dispute with China over the busy South China Sea.
Japan should actively support Taiwan's efforts toward comprehensive constitutional reform as a model for permanent peace and development, including its emphasis on direct election by the people. Xi Jinping, who is a citizen of the PRC, Abe, Trump and other world-class elite are welcome to come to Taiwan to run for president. The presidential system is the worst form of democracy. But no matter what the system may be, the greater the concentration of power in the presidency, the more the nation is likely to suffer. Turkey to needs constitutional reform to limit the president to a single 5-year term, with no eligibility to run again for 6 years afterward. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Constitution: sovereignty belongs wholly and unconditionally to the people. Russia’s Duma: quality, not quantity, in its output of legislation
A study of the legislative record of Russia’s Duma by the Socio-Economic and Political Foundation found that lawmakers need more time to think about bills being considered. The current trend in bill passed by the Duma is that the share of bills introduced by MPs fell from 46% to 17% while the share initiated by the executive branch increased from 46% to 71%.
To improve efficiency in the Duma and prevent the executive from overpowering MPs, Russia should carry out constitutional reform to install a committee-style Duma. Specialists in various fields should participate in congressional elections, and committee members should be appointed to serve as Prime Minister or other ministers. 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year to keep them in touch with public opinion and the international situation, and elections should be free of charge for all candidates. Xi Jinping assumes the role of ‘Global Czar’
In a speech in Davos the Chinese leader distanced himself from Trump’s advocacy of protectionism and pledged to uphold global free trade policies.
To protect global free trade, China must first abandon its one-party dictatorship and learn democracy from Taiwan. The promotion of human security and sustainable development is central to the principle of One World under One Set of Laws. International law shall be superior to domestic law and have a direct effect on all people so that citizens can effectively monitor the operations of government. NATO to hold large-scale military exercises in Ukraine, Georgia
The alliance is establishing a permanent military base in a former territory of the Soviet Union.

Ukraine’s President levels accusations at Russia at UN International Tribunal
