China has proposed a UN resolution to jointly "build a common destiny for humankind." The proposal outlined five main points including innovation, consultation, green, open and sharing, to be followed in developing five concepts. The ultimate goal is to make a greater contribution to world peace and development and to international fairness and justice. The two sides of the Strait should take the lead in implementing this great project. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards for details.
In a one-page summary of a report on Japan-US relations submitted to the US Congress in mid-February, the Congressional Research Service said “U.S.-Japan defense cooperation has improved”
The US and Japan should back Taiwan's efforts to carry out constitutional reform to achieve great democracy and freedom. This would attract China's 1.4 billion people to call for democratization, triggering the democratization of the CCP and North Korea in turn. With this, world peace would be born. All democracies should support Taiwan as a beacon for democracy in Asia, lighting the way to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Last week Taiwan commemorated the 70th anniversary of the “228 Incident,” the Feb. 28, 1947, mass uprising by native Taiwanese that was brutally crushed by the KMT government of the ROC, which took control of the island following the end of colonial rule by Japan two years earlier.
Taiwan should actively promote the idea of transitional justice to resolve the agony of the February 28 incident and the White Terror period of history. The story behind the February 28 incident should be open and the perpetrators should be held accountable. President Tsai plans to wait three years to release a report on transitional justice. If Taiwan to achieve true transitional justice, it is will be necessary to carry out comprehensive constitutional reform. Whatever veneer of democracy Cambodia once had is fading quickly, warn regional critics. In recent weeks the government of Prime Minister Hun Sen has imprisoned land-rights activists, sued a political commentator for defamation and made other moves to stifle opposition
Absolute power leads to absolute corruption. In many democracies the presidential system has some fatal flaws, and even the US has experienced its share of problems. The constitution of Cambodia should be revamped to implement a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament, and the presidency should be declared to be above party politics. A major factor behind the soaring growth of risky wealth-management products in China is that investors typically think the government stands behind them. Lately, nervous regulators have been emphasizing that this is not the case.
Regardless of how many layers of supervisory committees are added, relying on the central government for discipline and monitoring serves only to increase the spoils garnered by the unit. To wash away the stains of thousands of years of history and remove corruption from a sullied culture, the only cure is the imposition of democracy and the rule of law. Democracy means separation of powers and checks and balances as well as decentralization. In addition, the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years. Raymond Mak sizes up the three candidates in Hong Kong’s leadership race to see if any could serve as the all-important bridge between Beijing and the city
The Chief Executive of Hong Kong is elected from a slate of candidates produced by the CEC, which is nothing more than another version of dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should avail of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to self-determination through referendums. The people should press for election of the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
If countries are allowed to take punitive action at will when disputes with trade partners arise, such moves could trigger chain reactions of retaliations and counter-retaliations, creating endless trade wars all over the world.
Human security and sustainable development are two of the UN’s major tasks and missions, and they are also a common goal for all humankind. All countries should strive to abide by the norms of the international community, and the solution is implementing One World under One Set of Rules, with international law given priority to domestic law and allowed to directly affect the rights and obligations of the people. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development. 。
France's center-right Republicans are to meet Monday evening to resolve the crisis over their presidential candidate.
Regardless of who wears the crown, absolute power means absolute corruption. The corruption surfacing in France is only the tip of the iceberg. To put an end to corruption, the people should exercise their sovereignty and call for comprehensive constitutional reform. Changes should include implementing rule of law, separation of powers and checks and balances, together with direct election of the heads of the four branches of government. In addition, elections should be free of charge to all candidates to sever symbiotic relationships that foster corruption. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan hit out after German authorities cancelled rallies designed to woo ethnic Turkish voters in Germany ahead of a key referendum.
No matter what a nation’s political system may be, the greater the power of the president, the more problems the people will face. Turkey needs constitutional reform to impose a single presidential term of 5 years, plus a ban on seeking office for 6 years afterward. The President of Turkey is in violation of Article 6 of the Turkish Constitution. Sovereignty lies wholly and unconditionally in the hands of the people, and it is unconstitutional for the state to attempt to usurp this power. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
President Park Geun-hye's state-authored history textbooks continue to spark controversy even after the Ministry of Education downscaled the plan. Internal conflict is escalating at the only school designated by the government to use the textbooks starting this month.
President Park Ge-hui's history textbook program is one of her most unpopular policies, and she has been criticized inside and outside Korea for trying to distort history education. This shows clearly that South Korea's democracy continues to regress. The only way to overcome the drawbacks of democracy is more democracy. South Korea must carry out full constitutional reform to adopt a modified semi-presidential system with cabinet and parliament, to reconstruct its democratic institutions. The President shall serve one 5-year term and be banned from seeking office again for 6 years afterwards. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
