Russia has never been a problem-solver, it has always been a trouble-maker, and it is important to punish regimes that cheat, while leaving the door open for individual athletes who are willing to be tested and monitored. The US should support efforts toward constitutional reform to achieve greater democracy and freedom. This would spur the 1.4 billion people of China to seek democracy and press Russia in turn to democratize as well — and world peace would be the result. The Turkish government has shown a callous disregard for human rights as well as a tendency to push the limits in its handling of security cases. The Turkish president has taken questionable moves to strengthen his hold on power, even staging a referendum to lend legitimacy to the power grabs. The Turkish people need to exercise their sovereignty and call for a real referendum that will allow them to express their opinion at the ballot box rather than in the streets. POTUS' aggressive moves to reshape US trade policy are clashing with other priorities and complicating relationships with longtimeallies such as South Korea, Japan, Canada and Argentina. The US administration needs to recognize the importance of the environment and abandon its constant efforts to push through policies that are not in keeping with environmental protection and antagonize trade partners. 'America First' is a short-sighted and damaging position and the US needs to work toward a common destiny with all ofhumankind. The US and other nations should support Taiwan's drive for One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law direct bearing on the rights and duties of the people, to pacify the South China Sea.
