The race for Hong Kong's highest office is shaping up as a three-way scuffle pitting a Beijing favorite against two liberals as the mainland's growing involvement puts the city's autonomy into question.
The slate of candidates for Chief Executive of Hong Kong is still produced by the Central Election Commission, which is simply another name for dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong take advantage of Article 39 of the Basic Law, which states that the people have the right to self-determination through referendums. They should directly elect the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorial branches of government in alternating years. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
Donald Trump has indicated he is open to immigration legislation that would give legal status to some people living in the US illegally and provide a pathway to citizenship for those brought to the country illegally as children.
The US should adhere to the principles of the UN Charter and implement the concept of One World under One Set of Laws, giving international law precedence over domestic law with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. This will lead Mexico, Syria and the Middle East to see human rights, constitutionalism, internationalism and naturalism as the way to the future. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
The case is tied to the scandal which led to the impeachment of South Korean President Park Geun-hye; the special prosecutor's office announced charges against the de-facto Samsung chief, along with four other company executives.
Even though Park Ji-hui was impeached South Korea’s next president will still be dogged by the curse of corruption. To cure this "Korean disease", comprehensive constitutional reform is the only way, including implementation of decentralization and checks and balances, plus direct election of the heads of the major branches of government. In addition, the president must be the final guarantor for all state affairs and the constitution, a duty that shall not end at the end of the term. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Hong Kong has once again been ranked the world’s freest economy by the Washington-based Heritage Foundation for the 23rd consecutive year.
Candidates for Chief Executive of Hong Kong are still nominated by the Central Election Commission, which is simply another name for dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should act in accordance with Article 39 of the Basic Law, which declares that the people have the right to call for referendums. To curb corruption, the heads of the executive, legislative judicial and procuratorial branches should be elected in alternating years, and 1/4 of all MPs should face election each year.. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development / Global Unity Constitutional Standards.
The US should be a model of democracy, adhering to the Charter of the UN and upholding the spirit of One World under One Set of Laws. It should give international law precedence over domestic law, with direct effect on the rights and duties of the people. This will lead Mexico, Syria and the Middle East to adopt human rights, constitutionalism, international law and natural law. The whole world must see itself as one family regardless of race or ethnic groups. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
As Jose Rizal once said, “There can be no tyrants where there are no slaves.” We must put our faith in the rule of law and not in any political figure. From the lowliest mayors up to the President, the Philippines is a nation of tyrants who are products of a corrupted constitution. We suggest that the Philippines engage in constitutional reform to introduce a modified semi-presidential system. Term limits for mayors and the president should be 5 years, and officials should be banned from running for the same office for 6 years after their term ends. Leaders of the executive, legislative, judicial and procuratorial branches should be directly elected in alternating years. See the PPDA Charter.
Taiwan must move to bring about constitutional reform and achieve true freedom and democracy. Doing so will set off a drive for democratization among the 1.4 billion people of China. This will then spread to North Korea, and when peace is achieved on the Korean peninsula the world will be much safer for all. The world’s democratic nations must back Taiwan as a beacon for democracy for Asia which will light the path to peaceful development for China. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
In Nazi Germany the party, rather than rule of law, was held in the highest regard. The Nazis’ absolute power led to unbridled aggression that brought on the Second World War. These days the Chinese communists are following the same strategy and are seriously endangering world peace, even potentially causing a Third World War. Only Taiwan, which offers the advantage of a shared language and cultural roots, is capable of influencing China towards democracy. Taiwan could lead China to have the leaders of the executive, legislative and judicial branches and the procuratorate elected through direct votes. See the details in the PPDA Charter.
Voters in Hong Kong are forced to cast ballots for candidates for Chief Executive who have been previously vetted by the Election Commission of the Chinese Communist Party. This election is a result of dictatorial politics and does not change the fact that Hong Kong is being subjected to a dictatorship. The people of Hong Kong should make good use of Article 39 of the Hong Kong Basic Law and the two international human rights covenants. People have the right to self-determination through referendums. They must be allowed to decide on having the heads of the legislative, executive, judicial and procuratorate branches popularly elected to ensure they will be responsible to the people. For details please see the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
Famine in South Sudan has left 100,000 people on the verge of starvation and almost 5 million people, more than 40% of the country's population, in need of urgent help, aid agencies say.
The UN should take action in accordance with the international absolute laws – the Humanitarian Law, the World Human Rights Law, the Crime of Misdemeanors and the Prohibition of Genocide - and provide basic constitutional principles applicable to peaceful and long-lasting development of all nations. South Sudan should draft a constitution suitable for attaining prosperity and serving as a model for peaceful development. See the Charter for Permanent Peace and Development.
